What is the Clarity Series MP-1.4?

The MP-1.4 is a high bandwidth RGB true 75 ohm line driver and filter circuit add-on for your existing PC video card and other devices such as the Xbox 360.  It offers offers greatly increased performance over regular stock video drivers.  These dramatic results are accomplished with a very unique active filtering process, supported by a mini isolated switching power supply.

A line driver of buffer stage like this is recommended for most analog outs from a DAC. Most of the modern video processor manufacturers have already implemented a buffer or line driver stage before the BNC or RGB analog out of their processor/scaler. This stage provide a stronger drive current for long cable runs, very important for the absolute best in image performance.  The MP-1.4 is unity gain only. It will not boost the signal. This version works exceptionally well without boosting the signal, so well that any need for boosting has been eliminated as compared to the previously offered MP-1 video card enhancement.

Which video cards will the MP-1.4 work with?

The add-on board will work with any PC video card with a VGA (RGBHV) connector, though best results are achieved by pairing it with an NVIDIA GeForce card.  The MP-1.4 benefits may also be seen in any device with a VGA (RGBHV) output such as DVD up-scaling DVD players, HDTV receivers, etc. It has been tested with the Xbox 360 with great results!

Disclaimers:

The MP-1.4 is meant as a DIY kit for individuals with general experience in soldering & electronics as it must be connected between the video card's GPU and the VGA connector by the end user. Given that hundreds of models of video cards and other consumer devices with VGA (RGBHV) outputs exist, it is impossible to provide detailed instructions of exactly where and how to connect the MP-1.4 to all devices. While an MP-1.4 board wiring diagram will be provided, it is ultimately the purchaser's responsibility to determine where the RGB lines exist on their video card/device such that the MP-1.4 may be connected.

MPmods.com is not responsible for any damages that may occur to the video card/device or the MP-1.4 itself due to improper soldering or installation techniques. All sales are final.

The gray wire is the power wire that goes to the video card's 12 volt supply. It can be soldered directly onto the video card, right near the power connector. The 6 purple wires are the input/output wires. Instructions are provided with the card labeling which is which (3 are RGB in, 3 are RGB out).

not visible as they are mounted on the underside of the board.

Below are pictures of a Marquee 8500 Ultra with worn tubes being driven by an HTPC with an older GEForce 5950 video card with the MP-1.4 mod attached. The cabling used is Belden 1694A (20'). Tests are run at 1920x1080p/72Hz - so it's handling well over 200mhz, and it's doing it very well. Without this mod, the results would be very different. The MP-1.4 contributes greatly in this projector being able to display these test patterns.
